Mastering engineers apply subtle adjustments, such as overall EQ, multi-band compression, limiting, and stereo widening, to optimize loudness and clarity. They also ensure that tracks on an album flow well together in terms of volume and tonal balance. Ultimately, mastering prepares the track for commercial release, bringing out the best possible version of the mix.
